Final Reading of 2011

I am finally getting around to listing the rest of my reading from 2011 - the books that I finished but just didn't get around to reviewing before the year ended.

Gillespie and I - Jane Harris - My first Jane Harris read and I absolutely loved it - a great suspenseful story

The Observations - Jane Harris - After loving Gillespie and I I was quick to pick up Harris's first book but I have to say, I didn't love it quite as much

The Marriage Plot - Jeffrey Eugenides - Well worth the wait! An introspective book in many ways but I loved the characters musings and stories

Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? - Jeanette Winterson - A funny and moving memoir brilliantly written - highly recommended

Norwegian Wood - Haruki Murakami - I tend to have a love/hate relationship with Murakami's books and this one was no different - loved some parts and others just frustrated the hell out of me!

The Witches - Roald Dahl - A fun re-read to end the year

Norwegian Wood was my first and 9so far) only Murakami. It put me off his books, actually, but he's so loved around the book blogsphere that I've decided to give him another try.

Looking forward to tackling The Marriage Plot myself if I EVER get it from the library.

I'm almost done with Gillespie & I and I am loving it. Full blown swoon. So v sad to see her first book isn't as good as my thought was to get it next. I've not been so interested in The Marriage Plot but I ought to give it a try...

I have The Marriage Plot waiting for me, I'm saving it for the perfect moment :)

And the Witches is just great! I'm a primary school teacher and my classes always love it..

Some interesting bits and bobs here. I'm massively excited about Gillespie and I and glad you enjoyed it.

I had a bit of a Murakami love affair a couple of years ago and haven't read (but bought last month) Norwegian Wood yet. I think its going to be the make or break book for me after my disappointment with 1Q84.

Also LOVE Roald Dahl. Bought the whole collection of the book man at work.

I liked Jane Harris' first book, so I am looking forward to reading Gillespie and I in due course.

I've just picked up a copy of Dahl's Matilda from the library and am looking forward to exploring it (haven't read The Witches, but was eyeing that one too). I have plans for The Marriage Plot, too, but perhaps not in the same reading session, though I suppose both are suitably bookish in nature!

Hope your 2012 is filled with more good reading!

Hi Pippa - you are so, so sweet! I am sorry for not writing for soooooo long but I will send you a letter soon with some news on why I have been so slack. xox

Hi Alex - I know what you mean about Murakami - it always seems like a bit of a psychological struggle to get through his books!

Hi Andi - I can imagine it has A LOT of holds on it!!

Hi Audra - I love the phrase "full blown swoon" - definitely my thoughts on Gillespie and I as well. I would still recommend reading her first book - you might find it different to me - although I could not rate it as swoon worthy unfortunately.

Hi Sam - I think The Witches has to be a favourite of children and adults alike!

Hi Relish - I bought the whole collection of Dahl from the Book Man at my work too!!

Hi Marg - I hope you like it as much as "The Observations" - I think it is by far the more entertaining read.

Hi Buried in Print - 2012 has actually got off to quite a good start reading wise - reviews coming soon...
