Library Loot

In line with my new "Don't Buy So Many Books" policy I have picked up a few books at my local library in the past week:

The Winter Ghosts - Kate Mosse - I have had a bit of like/dislike relationship with this authors work but my friend Tamara had some good things to say about this - and it does look gorgeous.

The Infinities - John Banville - This was a book I discovered in a "Best Of 2009" list last week and it sounds as if there are a few people out there who have enjoyed this one.

The Year of the Flood - Margaret Atwood - After loving Oryx and Crake I definitely want to read this one but I think I need to leave a bit of a gap between the two.

Has anyone read any of these? Good or not so good?

That is a great selection of books. I wasn't a fan of Labyrinth by Kate Mosse, so will be interested to see if you like this one any more.

I recently read and enjoyed The Infinities - I hope you do too!

Hi Verity - I completely agree! My library is great - far better than I thought it would be.

Hi Dot - Good to hear!

Hi Jackie - Your review on The Infinities made me put the hold on it at my library!

Hi Simon - I'm really looking forward to The Year of the Flood - I just want to wait a little and put a bit of time between Oryx and Crake and reading this one.

I love anything and everything by Margaret Atwood :) I saw her read from Oryx and Crake back when it came out, she was so witty and funny :) I love female authors that write such intelligent, thought-provoking, and still incredibly moving stories! And there are many of them out there, hooray!

Haven't read any of these but I do have the Atwood on my TBR list. And, isn't that a great cover?

Hi Stockdove - There are many, many amazing female authors. I would have loved to have been able to hear Atwood read from her book in person - that would have been fantastic!

Hi Iliana - It is an interesting cover - I thought it suited the book really well too.
